Ebenau
The village of the old water mills
at an altitide of 607 ms.
Our hotel is situated in the popular holiday village of Ebenau near Salzburg, which lies in an idyllic valley between the festival city of Salzburg (15 kms.), the Celtic town of Hallein (10 kms. ) and the lakes in the Salzkammergut region (9 kms.).
Marked paths and tracks with benches to take a rest, lead to the vantage points, through woods and fields or to the idyllic „Plötz“, a natural monument mith waterfalls, rock formations and ancient
farmers’ mills, where, on a warm Summer day,
there is welcome refreshing clear water.
Not to be forgotten is the Museum in Fürstenstöckl in Ebenau, whose historical meaning of Ebenau as a centre where iron, copper and brass were processed is documented.
Ebenau is a central starting point for excursions by car. Here some suggestions: The city of Salzburg, the Salzkammergut, Hallein with its Salt mines, the Untersberg cable car, the Dachstein ice caves, the Emperor Villa in Bad Ischl, St. Wolfgang with the steam cog-wheel railway up the Schafberg, the lakes and Moore in the foothills of the Alps, Berchtesgaden with lake Königsee, Hitler’s Tea House and the Eagle’s Nest, the Großglockner, Austria’s highest mountain, Kaprun and lots more
But also in Winter there is plenty to do: the cross-country skiiers enjoy themseves on approx. 11 kms. of good tracks, past romantic farmer’s water mills, through unspoilt nature. Furthermore there are Winter paths for walkers, a toboggan run, a drag lift and the family skiing area of Gaissau Hintersee (14 kms.)
