Mozartstätten

Mozart´s Birthplace
The house is over three floors high and a museum. The main attractions are Mozart’s original instruments and authentic portraits. There is also a display of Salzburg furniture and things of daily life from Mozart’s period.










Mozart´s Residence
In the rooms where the Mozart family used to live on the first floor there is, today, a museum showing the history of the house and the life of Mozart’s family. The life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is the main attraction. The main emphasis is the presentation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s journeys, as also those of his sister Maria Anna – „Nannerl“.









The Magic Flute House
A small wooden building, in which Mozart supposedly composed part of his „Magic Flute“ KV 620. Mozart was apparently locked in by his text writer Emanuel Schikaneder, to make sure his composition whould be finished in time for the deadline, met here with singers and practised part of the „Magic Flute.    St. Sebastian´s CemetryIn the Linzergasse at the foot of the „Kapuzinerberg“ is the St. Sebastian cemetry, where, near to  Gabriel’s chapel a number of Mozart’s familiy have found their final resting place. 



Lodronischer Primogeniturpalast
The“ Lodronischen Primogeniturpalast“ (Mirabellplatz 1), this building now houses the High School of Music and Performing Arts, and is where Mozart enjoyed playing instruments with his friends.

  
Mozart Monument
After a call for donations, which lots of Salzburg inhabitants followed, a monument for Mozart could be ordered. (Mozartplatz – Mozart square)     CathedralIn the Salzburg cathedral Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s parents, Leopold and Anna Maria, were married here on 21. November 1747. Mozart composed almost all his church music for the Salzburg cathedral.

   
St. Peter´s Abbey
Mozart had very close contact to St. Peter’s Abbey from an early age. When his youth friend, Kajetan Rupert Hagenauer, became a priest and was later from 1786 to 1811 Abbott in the monastery, Mozart composed the „Dominicus-Messe" KV 66 








Residenz
In the „Rittersaal“ of the Residenz (Residenzplatz 1) the first presentation of Mozart’s religious singing composition „Die Schuldigkeit des Ersten Gebots" KV 35 took place here on the 12. March 1767. As a member of the court music Mozart gave a number of concerts here in the Residenz.

Alte Universität – Old University
In the large theatre – „Großen Aula (Aulatheater)“ of the old university (today the theological faculty, Hofstallgasse) Mozart danced in a school drama at the age of 5 years.



Kollegienkirche – College Church
For the opening celebrations and the four-hourly prayer in the College Church (Universitätsplatz) on the 5. February 1769 Mozart composed the d-Moll-Messe KV 65 (61a).



Mozarteum
In 1880 the „International Mozart Foundation“ was founded, whose aim was the care and support of the sound art and admiration for Mozart. 1910-1914 the Mozart house, commonly known as the Mozarteum, was built in „Munich Youth Style“. The International Mozart Foundation is connected to Mozart friends all over the world, which, amongst other things, has 70 Mozart Societies on all continents.


 
Pilgrim Church Maria Plain
Mozart composed the Mass in F-Dur KV 192 for the Pilgrim Church of Maria Plain, where his family often read mass.











Mozart Memorial in St. Gilgen
Today the District Courts are to be found on the Ischler Straße in St. Gilgen where on 25. December 1720 Mozart’s mother, Anna Maria Walpurga Pertl, was born. Since 1983 a room in the District Courts displays a commemorative exhibition with portraits and documents of the Mozart family.
