Mozart und Kulinarik

Food played an important part in the Mozart epoch:

on the one side the population were hungry, one hardly had enough money to feed one’s family, and on the other side one took advantage of the excellent fully loaded tables at the court and ate like a king.

Mozart knew both sides during his life-time.

The choice of menu in the 18. century was seldom served according to one’s own taste, but depended more on what the traders had to offer, which again depended on the seasons, the state of
the roads, war and peace.

Mozart’s favourite food was chicken.
